Steve Irwin - Conservationist hero or self-serving egotist?

The Coffee House - An Environment Forum
There is an increasing amount of news out there, fed to us 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, less and less is 'investigative' journalism looking into the deeper reasons behind why things are happening. At The Coffee House we pick out some of the more controversial news stories for debate. Politics, economics, development and environment are our main focus. Grab a coffee (or tea!) and join us. Just don't be shy!

There's no difference between Irwin's 'act' and the old-fashioned animal acts that were banned from UK circuses years ago. He's just an update on the lion tamer with a chair and a whip. All he's achieving is a frisson of displaced danger for the audience, and a generation of kids who've come to think it's OK to torment animals because Steve Irwin does it on TV. It's sick, frankly.
Who cares he's dead! OK His kids will and I feel sorry for them.
Might have done some good but at the same time was a prat.
Just my 2p

Careful! Loads of women's hearts sank on hearing that their 'hero' had died. Think they all imagined Steve saving them from vicious crocs before whisking them off to get married. Each to their own!
